Robert’s passion for horticulture runs deep, tracing back to his roots in Hawaii, where his great-great-grandparents emigrated as agricultural workers from the Portuguese island of Madeira. Growing up, his love for plants and landscaping was nurtured by his grandmother and father, spending summers in the Hawaiian Islands, a source of continuous inspiration.
With a background in Horticultural Studies, Robert launched his career at Spring Hill Nursery in Apopka, FL in 1999. In 2000, he founded Higher Power Lawn Care, offering maintenance, irrigation, and landscape services. Three years later, Robert became the Managing Partner for Better Lawns and Garden, expanding services to over 120 residential and commercial clients. In 2006, Robert sold the lawn maintenance division of Better Lawns and Garden to focus entirely on landscape design. This led to the creation of BLG Environmental Services, specializing in landscape, hardscape, and outdoor lighting design and installation.
In 2017, Robert became a Certified Professional Landscape Designer with the FNGLA (Florida Nursery, Growers, and Landscape Association), the largest state nursery and landscape association in the country. Over the years, he has designed, consulted, and managed hundreds of residential estates, adding significant value to millions of dollars in real estate through his vision and expertise.
As a principal at BLG Environmental Services, Robert is deeply involved in every project, working closely with clients and project teams to ensure the highest level of satisfaction. He frequently visits job sites and is available for consultation throughout the project’s lifecycle.
Robert resides in Longwood, FL, with his wife Megan and their three children. He is actively involved in his church, enjoys playing golf, and cherishes spending summers with his family in the Colorado mountains, where they love to hike and explore nature. In addition to BLG, Robert is the co-founder of RC Sitework, a professional turn key solution for all aspects of site work in central Florida and RC Trees central Florida tree farm.
Danny Johnson, Project Manager
Danny Johnson is the Project Manager at BLG Environmental, bringing over 20 years of experience in landscape project management. With a strong background in residential projects, Danny specializes in turning complex landscape ideas into reality with precision and efficiency.
Known for his attention to detail and leadership skills, Danny oversees every phase of a project—from the initial planning through to the final walkthrough. He communicates easily with clients, designers, and crews, making sure that each project meets BLG Environmental’s high standards while delivering exactly what the client needs.
Danny’s deep understanding of Florida’s climate, plant life, and construction techniques helps him make smart choices that improve both the look and sustainability of each landscape. He’s also passionate about creating outdoor spaces where people can come together. Whether it’s a family’s backyard retreat or a community area, Danny takes pride in delivering results that stand the test of time.
Outside of work, Danny enjoys going to church, playing golf, working in his yard, and spending time with his family exploring Florida’s outdoors.
