A family, originally from Charleston, South Carolina, was looking for Orlando landscaping with southern charm here in Central Florida. They wanted to transform their backyard into a southern-inspired escape perfect for family gatherings and envisioned a space with lush landscaping, a hardscape patio, walkways, privacy elements, and outdoor lighting to complement both the landscape and the architectural features of their home.

BLG Environmental Services was chosen as the Orlando Landscaping company to transform the client’s backyard to reflect their vision of a southern home in Central Florida. We began the backyard landscape design by clearing the existing landscape, retaining a beautiful magnolia tree as the centerpiece. New plantings of oakleaf hollies, Japanese blueberries, crape myrtles and river birch were strategically incorporated to provide stunning focal points and shade for the spacious backyard. Lush accents of azaleas, asiatic jasmine, drift roses, and ornamental grasses created a soft, welcoming atmosphere, with seasonal blooms ensuring year-round color.

For the hardscape design, the family wanted to create distinct areas for entertainment and relaxation. A tongue-and-groove vinyl fence provided privacy, while a brick paver walkway connected the existing lanai to a new outdoor dining area, complete with a cedar pergola. The walkway continued to a fire pit area featuring a solo stove smokeless fire pit—a perfect spot for cool Central Florida evenings. To enhance the ambiance, a pottery urn fountain was added nearby, creating the soothing sound of flowing water. For moments of tranquility, a hidden decorative bench was placed in the backyard, offering a cozy retreat.

To finish the transformation of this backyard landscape design in Orlando Florida, an elegant LED landscape lighting system was installed. Accent lights highlighted large trees and the home’s architectural features, while path lights guided guests through the outdoor spaces, including the sitting areas. This thoughtful lighting design created a captivating view from inside the home, inviting family and guests to enjoy the outdoors, day, and night.
